I can't wait to wake up and check this out tomorrow!

Life in the Fun Lane has such good ideas and now has a new sharing day on Fridays. Check it out!

I heart this!

From flea market ugly, to flea market chic

This piece was kinda ugly in the beginning, but now it's pretty stunning. I'm kinda in love with it to be honest. It turned out so good. It's in the shop and waiting for you to snatch it up and make it yours.

P.S. Sorry for the not so good before pictures, it was a last minute thought. The top and the bottom came together, but in the hauling process ended up in 2 different spots. Sorry you can't get the full effect of the before.

Getting my gears going...

So I find out in 21 days if it's a boy or girl. P.S. I'm pregnant. So I may be incorporating a little more baby ideas into the blog along with my shop stuff....

So here are some really cute baby rooms over at Ohdeedoh, which is really the best place on earth to get baby/kid/just plain fun stuff.

The little sprayer that saved the day

Or shall I say my back. I'm getting a little busier with selling painted furniture, and my brush and arm strength are not getting the job done fast enough. So, I've been looking at sprayers, making my husband go with me to all the hardware shops in the country, just to look at them. I don't always feel comfortable buying stuff like that online, I wanna touch it before I buy it sometimes. So, this weekend, we went to to Harbor Freight and picked and looked at all the sprayers in sight. And I found one, this one to be exact.

I had my dad help me test it out last night, and today I went full force. It's so much faster than doing it by hand, and the finish is very nice. The trick to using it is to make sure that your paint is rather thin, and adjusting the air properly. I read lots of reviews on sprayers, and I'm convinced that It's user error in most cases. Either that or I'm just smart and know what I'm doing. Either way, it's way better and less back breaking then the ole' brush and arm style.

So, soon the shop will be filled with newly painted furniture. I'll post pictures when they are done and ready for purchase. :)

Worst blogger ever!

So It's been forever, I'm aware of my lack of blogging & motivation for that matter. I thought since the sunniest of days are upon on and gardening season has began, I thought it would be fitting to get a little nostalgic. Seeing as my mom's second restaurant was called "The Scented Geranium", I'm a little fond of the thought, smell and whole idea of scented geraniums. (she garnished with them, how fitting right?!) Well I just stumbled across some sweet scented greenery yesterday while at one of my favorite rural greenhouses and had to have a rose scented geranium. I heart it & the thought of it......

p.s. i promise to work on being a better blogger.

Check out my new little friends

Since spring is on it's way in, and the sun is finally starting to shine, I thought now would be a perfect time to create something new. So, I would like to introduce my little plant friends....don't be intimidated by their cuteness. They are now available in my etsy shop and my real shop too. Let me know what you think!

Thanks for sharing!

I was so excited when a client sent me pictures today of the things she bought from my shop. Here is her blog, so be sure to check it out. I love what she has done with everything, and the new life that it has in her home! How wonderful! Thanks again for sharing! Don't you always wonder the new life of old things when you give them or get them?

Ready or not, here we come!

Well Tomorrow is the opening day, and I'm a little anxious to see what happens! It's not just the opening day for me at the shop, it's the opening day for my mom's restaurant which is right next door! It's kind of a big deal, because she's an amazing cook, and this is her 3rd restaurant. I'm honestly not as anxious for the shop to be open, as I am for her restaurant. I hope everyone, and their brother comes and sees how good everything is......

I better get to bed early, because it's going to be an early morning.

SNOW, SNOW, OH NO!

Ohio is getting some major snow, and my little car doesn't really like it much. I have to drive through 3 rural counties to get to Galion, where my shop is. So, I haven't really been there for a couple days, which means no work is getting done there. So, in order to make sure that everything gets done on time, we'll be opening March 2, 2010 (which is a week later than planned).

Thank you Galionlive!

After an energetic interview of my mom talking a mile a minute about her passion, Galionlive's own Thomas Palmer, wrote an outstanding piece on our plans for my new brick and mortar, and my mom's "french inspired" restaurant. How lucky are we?!

You can see it here!

Thank you for the local support!

More Sneak Peek!

Hopefully (fingers crossed) we will be open by Feb. 23rd. That is the same date that My Mom's Restaurant will be open!

Here is some pictures of what you can expect.

Sneak Preview

The shop is really close to being open. So I thought that I would let you have a little taste of what it's going to be like.

Oh!

Even though Ohio is bitterly cold, and requires 17 wool layers to attempt to venture out, I still kinda have some love for this old state (we're still kinda working out the details of our friendship). So, in order to have some inventory for the brick and mortar, I'll be sewing some one-of-a-kind pillows. Be sure to check us on on facebook and become a fan.

Also be sure to check out My mom's new restaurant! It's everything you could ever love all in one place.

new adventures of an old buffet

This is the before of the great piece. Found locally and given a little face lift.

This is after the paint and a little roughing up. I'm pretty much in love with this piece! I was being a little impatient and not really waiting to style it officially, but I couldn't wait to share it with everyone. It will be in the shop when we open, SOON!

I hope you love it as much as I do.
-Sonnie

P.S. We've been working on setting up the shop, and I'll be sure to let everyone know when we open....
